Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Rememoir, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms apply to all users, including individuals, family members, and facility staff.
2. The Service
Rememoir provides a guided storytelling platform that helps individuals capture and preserve personal life stories in text, audio, and photo formats, and export them as memoir books.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time with reasonable notice.
3. Accounts
- You must provide a valid email address and keep your account credentials secure.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- One person may not maintain multiple accounts.
4. Subscriptions & Payments
- Some features require a paid subscription. Pricing is displayed at checkout.
- Subscriptions renew automatically (monthly or annually) until cancelled.
- You may cancel at any time from your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by law.
- If a payment fails, we will notify you by email and retry. After repeated failures, your subscription will be paused and access to premium features suspended. Your stories remain safe.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
5. Your Content
- You retain full ownership of all stories, photos, and audio recordings you create in Rememoir.
- You grant Rememoir a limited licence to store and display your content solely to provide the service to you.
- We do not use your content for advertising, training AI models, or any other purpose.
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share any content you upload (e.g., photos of other people).
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, or violates the rights of others.
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the service.
- Use the service to store content unrelated to personal storytelling (e.g., commercial content, spam).
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.
7. Facility Accounts
Facilities using Rememoir for residents must:
- Obtain appropriate consent from residents or their legal representatives before creating stories on their behalf.
- Comply with applicable healthcare privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA where applicable).
- Ensure staff use accounts responsibly and in accordance with these terms.
The facility operator is responsible for compliance with local regulations regarding the collection of personal stories from residents.
8. Data & Privacy
Your use of Rememoir is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.
9. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and all associated content at any time by emailing privacy@rememoir.com. We will delete your data within 30 days. Exported PDF books are yours to keep.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
Rememoir is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We are not liable for any loss of data, though we take reasonable precautions to prevent it.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rememoir's liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
